INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE NDP 2011 MARCHING CONTINGENT
Calling all Seniors Programme Companies! This year's National Day Parade (NDP 2011) will be celebrated at the Float @ Marina Bay on 9 August, Tuesday. The Boys' Brigade in Singapore has once again been invited by the parade organisers to contribute a marching contingent in the Parade and Ceremony segment. The marching contingent is to consist of 55 Boys, with an additional 25 Boys standing by as reserves.
You are cordially invited to apply for your Boys to participate in this celebration of our nation's 46th Birthday! However, please take note of the following essential information and conditions for application:
1. The parade organisers require participants to be Singapore Citizens, preferably 1.6m to 1.7m in height.
2. Participants should be physically fit and energetic. Boys with any pre-existing medical conditions that would render them unfit to participate fully in the rehearsals and actual parade will NOT be accepted. Boys with back problems are also advised not to participate.
3. Participants must attend all training sessions and rehearsals, in addition to the actual parade, in order for them to be awarded the National Event Badge as well as CCA points. Boys with valid letters from their schools may be excused during examination periods.
4. Boys who are in Sec 2 and above who have attained Drill Stage Two Award (Boys should be able to march correctly and in timing) may participate in the marching contingent, though priority should be given to Sec 3 Boys.
5. Boys who need to wear spectacles should only wear spectacles with black frames and clear lenses (no coloured or transition lenses), or contact lenses.
Time Commitment and Other Notes
Boys participating in the parade should expect to have to keep all their Saturdays free from mid-April till the parade, 9am to 9pm. The rehearsals are scheduled on every Saturday, 1230hrs to 1700hrs, starting from 16 Apr 11 to 9 Aug 11. Individual contingent training may commence two to three weeks before proceeding to combined component rehearsals. Longer rehearsal hours are expected from 18 Jun 2011 onwards, when combined rehearsals begin at the parade venue. Please see below for the detailed schedule.
Please note, in the event of rain and other disruptions, the next day (a Sunday) may be used as a replacement date, at the discretion of the parade organisers.
Captains are strongly encouraged to adjust Company programmes accordingly to accommodate their Boys' attendance at all the rehearsals. No exemptions from rehearsals will be allowed due for Company and church (whether sponsoring church or Boys' own church) events.

Please note that approval for Boys' exemption from NDP Rehearsals may only be granted by the assigned BB Officer in-charge, and not by the respective Company's Captain or Officers. This is because the BB Officer-in-charge, being the Point of Contact with the parade organisers, is directly accountable to the parade organisers for absences resulting in the inability to form a full contingent. Also, BB Officers and Teachers who are not involved in the NDP are not allowed to visit or follow their Boys to any of the NDP dates (rehearsals and actual day) due to issues of security and accountability. We humbly seek your understanding on these points.
Food and Transportation
As per previous NDP's arrangement, food will be provided for training that straddle across Lunch and Dinner. Transportation will be catered to pick up/drop participants from a venue stipulated by HQ.
