I am sure all of you Boys, officers, instructors, and myself included, have this thought come across our mind before during out time in 45th : "Our company is very small" and because of that, as randall puts it, pathetic.
I think that this is the sad nature of society, where we measure success based on numbers and statistics. Larger numbers = more successful and prosperous. A successful company makes lotsa of money and has a high percentage growth, a successful school is one that has 100% of its o level students eligible to go to JC, a successful CCA is one that is able to attract large numbers of students to join, a successful student is one that scores 10 A1s and a successful man is measured by his waist size (just kidding).
I think we should pause and really reflect. Does numbers mean everything? I too have been in this trap where i get super emo just thinking of our smallness. There was even a time where i asked God why does everything that i seem to lead be so small, be it BB or my church youth, is it something wrong with me? But thank God that i got out of this delusion.
How then would i measure the successfulness of the world? In a company, it would be the loyalty and the passion of the staff. In a school, it would the quality of students produced and to see them coming back to give back to the school. In a country, it would be the pride of the citizens.
How about a CCA, and in this context BB? I feel that it should be the following :
1. our FRIENDSHIP and the bonds forged that we become like a FAMILY
2. the ability to impact lives and change Boys character
3. impart skills and knowledge
4. always seeking God's perspectives
If we consider the following criteria, i think that 45th, we are AWESOME! seriously ;)
Hopefully this is encouraging for all of you all and i hope that we can continue to build on all this and really treasure BB and be proud of it ;)
waaa not long more to my results, hahahahs
cheers
