Dear Sec4s and 5
I know that it has been a busy week for all of your and most likely your workload won't be lightened till your Os and Ns. I have been getting updates on the various programmes the school is conducting for your. I know that your have your studies (+ special programme every wednesday and friday and everyday after school ;) ), CCA(s) and for some of your, AQ training to go for.
I know that this is a very siong peroid for all of your and yea, i really understand what your are juggling with. I had been there and done that as well. I would just like to offer some advices for your. Some of the advices are based on my own experiences. Some points and examples are what i have learnt as a psychology major.
1. Preciousness of time
Manage your time wisely. Every minute, every second is precious. Do not ever spend your time in a way where you cannot be accountable for how you spent your time.
2. Manage your commitments
Juggle your committments by managing your time well. I mean really get a planner (student handbook) and plan your week's programme. Set a goal for your revision and studies.
For example,
7am to 5pm - Study in School. Follow timetable
5-6pm - travel back home
6-7pm - dinner
7-9pm - study maths, objective: revise basic integration
9-9.30pm - rest
9.30pm-11pm - read newspaper, objective: understand the grammer structures, know more about current affiars, vocabulary and etc)
11pm - sleep
3. Rest
Remember to get a rest. Humans are not built to work around the clock like robots. Insufficient rest at night will only make you feel sleeply the next day, which will minimise the chance of you paying attention in class. This means that you have to spend extra time re-read the textbook to catch up with what your teacher has taught.
Do remember to go for some sports and activities on weekends. Outdoor activities will help you to focus better in the things you are doing (Playing sports will subconsciously help you to focus). Thus thats why atheletes are able to get better results. It will help you to destress and make you less tense as well. When you are too tense, you have a lower chance to recall what you have learnt.
4. Discipline
Another reason why atheletes can juggle well in sports and studies is because they are trained to be disciplined. From young, they have learnt to juggle tough trainnings together with their studies. This is evident in Sports School as well. They are able to apply their disciplined training into their life. For example, atheletes do not eat junk food, and they are very conscious about how they spend their time.
Every point that i have mentioned here is all linked. So do make an effort to practise all these. Remember that your have a race set before you (O and N level) and your should start preparing for it. In the meantime till april, i do hope and challenge your to commit part of your time for BB and BBAQ trainings as well.
Remember, your can always drop me a email, sms or call me;) All of your are important to me. Not just gasper, dinghan or junkang. Its all of your.
Running this race with all of your
Mr Bay
