Reflections From Youth Leadership Conference

Hi Boys

I think it has been some time since i have updated the blog right? Here are some reflections from Boys who have attended the Youth Leadership Conference :)

"
1. We can all make a change in the world, be it a big or small difference.

2. I have to think out of the box and not just go with the flow. For example, not just following the syllables in the textbooks, but also read newspapers. I also need to know how to accept failure as a part of life, or I will not improve.

3. (a) I’ve learnt that even a little contribution by one person can make a big difference for someone elsewhere in the world.

(b) I’ve learnt that we are actually very fortunate to be living in such conditions, so we should not be complaining all the time.

(c) I’ve learnt that different people in the group have different roles to ensure that a project is able to run smoothly.

4. I can put words into actions. For example, I can gather the NCO council together and discuss on possible changes to the company and implementing them.

5. BBYLC was a fantastic experience. Even though I was tired from another camp, I still found myself participating in the activities. I met new friends and learnt many things about leadership. It was overall a fun event and if given a choice, I would still choose to go for it again.

"

1. What I learn from Penny Low was that I can be the “destiny” that might be able to change the whole wide world, and nothing can stop me in doing this. Everybody is born here for a purpose so you can become the sparkle that start the fireworks, or the fire that start a flaming torch in the Olympics. Make the difference and do something about it.

2. What I learn from Mr Teo Ser Luck is no matter how small you are, you can dream big and achieve big things if you put your heart or your entire soul into it. The passion in achieving something can make anything possible, like how our home country managed to host the Youth Olympic Games, based on these fundamental concepts and their ideals. Believe and you will achieve excellence. Like what Mahatma Gandhi say, “you must be the change you wish to see in the world”.

3. In my team, I learn more about teamwork and working with other BB organizations. I learn to break out of my own social circle and explore other opportunities. I learn that if you persevered in something and put your heart into doing it, you will succeed. It makes me realize that being a leader is not an easy task to do. You need the strength, the will, the determination, and the commitment to do something until the very end, no matter what obstacles await you. Communication is what I also learn during this conference.

4. Finally, I learn how to explore Facebook and other functions that I have never seen before. Also, the food there is okay, except the vegetables. I can use this experience in my own 45th BB coy by practicing the basic leadership skills that I have learn to handle other important tasks. No matter what, I would never give up and I would stay strong.

5. In conclusion, I think the YLC nourish me physically, emotionally and socially. I can now connect better with other people, not with my own school-mates. I can share my own ideas freely without feeling apprehensive about it, or afraid of getting laughed at or despised for some stupid suggestions. I learn there are many slums in Cambodia that needs our help, so we must lend them a helping-hand for them to see the end-light. It makes us responsible for their plight and we must treasure what we have, like our parents and the luxuries that we have that most of the rural folks don’t. I think the YLC benefited me a lot in these two days and I hope that there would be more of this in the coming future.
