BB 85th Anniversary: Trooping the Color Parade and Ceremony

This post is meant for Platoon 2 and Platoon 3 (as of Year 2014) only.

Dear Boys,

As I have announced last week about the BB Singapore 85th Anniversary Trooping of Color parade and ceremony, the main event will be held in EXPO and this event seeks to bring together the entire BB family of Boys, Officers, and Teachers-in-charge from our 115 Juniors, Seniors and Primers Companies. Stakeholders such as parents, school leaders, church partners, old Boys and community partners will also be invited for the event. The target audience is about 6000 persons.

There will be an impressive display of pageantry for the Trooping of Color. This memorable parade seeks to bring the pride and camaraderie back to drill, and more importantly to commemorate the 85th Anniversary of the Brigade. The Chairman for the "Trooping of Color" committee is LTC Sng Meng Wah, Parade Commander for NDP 2013 and a BB Old Boy.

Below are the rehearsal dates, reporting time will be announce on a later date.

15th and 16th November 2014 (Selection; venue @ Amoy Quee Camp, HQ NCC)
22nd November 2014
6th and 7th December 2014
13th December 2014 (Reserve Date)
20th December 2014
17th January 2015
31st January 2015
1st Feb 2015 (Reserve Date)
14th February 2015
21st February 2015
27th February 2015 (Full Dress Rehearsal)
28th February 2015 (Actual Day, Ceremonial attire)

I understand that during December there might be family commitments such as overseas holidays, and also in view of the late announcement, this significant event will be up to every Boys' own will to be part of this 85th Anniversary celebration. Boys who are interested, please commit to the selection dates as stated. Those who did not turned up I will deem it as not interested.

Drill Stage 3 incentive and Administrative matter

As I mentioned, those Boys who went through this commitment will be awarded the Drill Stage 3. However, I wish to clarify that those with Drill Stage 1 will need to complete Stage 2 beforehand, and Boys will not be able to fast forward from Stage 1 to Stage 3 as the drill knowledge and practical wise is a large jump.

For those who already awarded the Drill Stage 2, you will be exempted from Drill Stage 3 Practical during the Stage 3 Assessments that are conducted in HQ level but still required to take Drill Stage 3 theory test in order to attain the Stage 3. Lastly, for Boys who do not have your Drill Stage 2 by the end of this year, you will not be able to benefit from this exemption as well. Different stages for Core Awards such as Drills can only be cleared yearly and Boys are not allowed to jump stage.

Please appoint an IC within those interested and liaise with the teachers regarding consent form and transportation matters. Information pertaining to training I will update through this blog and also the IC.

On a personal note, I wish that all of you guys can take part in this significant celebration representing 45th. I agree that the rehearsal dates are tough, but the experience and camaraderie will remain in your memories (NDP Boys can vouch for this). The last time the Brigade come together for such scale event was back in 25 years ago, if those who decided not to go, the next celebration of such scale no one knows when it will be. How I wish that I have the opportunities to march in such event during my time as a Boy.

For those who have no idea about the Trooping parade, here is the Youtube link to the recent SAF Artillery Trooping of Color. We are doing the same thing.

Lets not forgot Mr Jason Ting will be carrying our Company Colour!
