Storage of Uniform in Bags

Dear Boys,

This post is regarding how you should be storing your Full Uniform in your bags when you change out of them during Parades.

If you are the type of person who trashes his entire Uniform into his bag upon taking it off, then it is time you kicked that habit. Take note of the following and make required improvements.

Don't:

1) Stuff your entire Uniform into your bag without sorting them out first.
2) Store your Uniform and/or its parts  in your shoe bag together with your boots/shoes. (Just use your brain and you will know why)

Do:

1) Remove delicate Uniform parts such as your rank, name tag, haversack, and belt and store them separately in your bag.
2) Give a simple fold to your Uniform shirt and pants.
3) Store delicate Uniform parts in a precise manner to prevent unnecessary damage such as blackening of white haversack, broken name tag etc.
*Tip* Use a bag with multiple compartments for Parades. This way, you can store the smaller parts into smaller bag pockets.

As for how to exactly store delicate parts, there is no exact method. The main idea is to store it in a manner to prolong its lifespan by protecting its original appearance.
E.g. Remove belt and curl it up before placing into bag.
Fold white haversack and place into a zip-lock bag, before placing into bag.
FYI, the new name tag is 1/3 the thickness of the older version. One light snap and its gone.

Bottom line is, respecting the Uniform is not just putting it on and looking smart. It is also about taking care of it even when you're not wearing it.

Help each other out and surprise checks will be conducted for inspection of the above.

Making Singapore an Inclusive Society

Dear Boys,

Today marks the 51st year of independence we have enjoyed as Singaporeans. As Singapore progressed, you and me have the privilege to attend school, and to be an educated, fine young man. I say it is a privilege because many children in the rest of the world may not have this chance to learn in an environment like ours. Some are affected by war, poverty, famine, diseases and gender inequality. (read this https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2013/jul/12/war-denying-children-education and http://www.unicef.org/education/bege_70640.html) So, be appreciative and thankful for the opportunities you have.

As younger Singaporeans are increasingly educated, there is a possibility that we may neglect the less fortunate around us as we pursue our education and other desires of our heart. I took this picture during the last BBCARES outing at Bishan Park. I hope that though this session, you and me are more aware of the less fortunate in the society and extending help to those in need. I hope that you will continue to show your care to the less fortunate outside of the BBCARES context.

United we stand, divided we fall. We can only stand as a united Singapore if we care.

Blessed National Day & Happy 51st Singapore!
